The script of Wan Smolbag's history of Vanuatu, starting with the story of the first man and the first woman, from Pentecost. Telling how the old traveller, Yasur, turned into Tanna's famous volcano and how the hero, Roymata, brought peace to the islands; it also reveals the story behind the famous Pentecost land dive. The history looks at the coming of the missionaries, blackbirders, and traders and how the world of tribal times was broken and changed. Many practical activities and ideas for discussion follow at the back of the book, which has been on the Pacific Secondary School Certificate English syllabus.
